Subject: MALI AND NOMADS

Dear reader,

As a student tropical rural sociology at the Agricultural University of
Wageningen, the Netherlands, I went - two years ago - for a practical period
to Mali.

In Mali I conducted an anthropological study amongst Peulh (Fulbe) in
the region of Nara. Subject of the study: the availability and (social context
of) the use of natural resources- i.e. water and bush - of a semi-nomadic
Peulh settlement. I stayed in the settlement for about seven months and tried,
besides the research, to learn as much as possible of the codes of living
and the language.

Passionated since then, my study nowadays finishes with a thesis on more or
less the same subject. Moreover, together with friends I am preparing
a project in Mali.

I am looking for people who like to exchange thoughts about Peulh and
other nomads, their way of living and the actual problems these people
meet. I am also interested in information on successes and failures of
projects designed especially for nomadic populations.
Looking foreward to hear from you,

                         With kind regards
                                      Ilse Tempelaar
