Several weeks ago, Stace Cameron asked for a workaround for a problem
sending simulated PROFS notes from Nomad. Sorry for the delay in
answering but I was not a subscriber until today.

In Nomad 600 and above, you can now call OVVM or PROFS directly from
NOMAD without having the problems of earlier versions. You can use the
PROFS (or OFFICE) TERMNL TTY command to put PROFS in line mode. You can
then queue the subject and any lines of text. If you prefer, you can
queue a .gf command if you are getting things from a file. Queue a null
line at the end, and issue the "PROFS NOTE" userid command. Issue PROFS
TERMNL with no parameters to reset. Make sure you are linked to the
appropriate disk. Usually it's the PROFS administrator ID's 399 disk.

If you still need to create a simulated note for whatever reason,
(segment overlay problems, etc) I have a program to do that too. I'd be
glad to distribute it, but it is written in REXX so this is not the
right place to go into details. It may however serve as a model for
anybody who needs to know what the hex codes really do, or who needs
acknowledgements, etc. The codes in Staces example indicated a normal
note that was being logged in a logfile that had 37,768 lines but the
length portion of the hex code was truncated. If you are really logging
the files, you may want to fix it.
