Subject:      Invalid doublebyte error

I have an application that sends a PROFS note on certain conditions.
The format of the PROFS note calls for HEX characters in the trailer
line. When testing this on 6.02a, I get the following error: (it
works on 5.52a)

  Error

      48.01   ('~~~h ~' cat &msg_subject cat '         ');
  SYN1790: COL. 010 Invalid doublebyte data.
      57.01       write &msg_elim(&JJ) as A80 on profnote;
  SYN0109: COL. 022--"(" field too long.
      58.01   end;
  SYN0135: COL. 006--"END" un-matched END statement.
  SYN0161: Error processing procedure "X04NOTE1".
  EXC0301: Return Code    64, executing statement    117.01, in X04MENU.

The hex values in the preceding the subject are FFFF938800 and following the
are 000000000000000000.

Any suggestions? Thanks.
